And here are some answers:
Will I have to buy vegetables I don't want?
Unlike some co-ops, buying clubs, or CSAs where everyone gets the same box of stuff (and you don’t know what you’re getting until you get it), with Falls Park Farmers Market Locally Grown you get to order what you want, in the quantities you want, from the farms you want. The weekly email will remind you that the market is “open” and you can browse the items on this website before placing your order.
Fresh produce and flowers are estimates of what we think will be available by the weekend. If something does not come to fruition your order will be adjusted and you will not be charged for the item you don’t receive.
How do I order?
Each Monday afternoon, a reminder email is sent to all of our registered customers. Customers must place their order for the week no later than Wednesday at midnight. Orders can be placed here on our website. Ordering through this web site is our preferred method as it is designed to reduce the amount of time it takes us to process orders as well as provide you with detailed information about our products.
When and Where do I pick up my order?
This week we hope to start the pick up early on Saturday morning from 8 to 10 Please watch your email for a time confirmation.
Drive through Falls Park Farmers Market. We will have a pick-up area and will bring your purchases to your car.
Are there membership fees?
There is no membership fee to access the online marketplace, however, to help support the market and cover some of the expenses of taking our market online, there is a 3% convenience fee added to your order at checkout.
Why Support Falls Park Farmers Market Locally Grown?
Enhance your local economy: By purchasing produce and other items from local growers you are providing stability to your local economy through the support of local businesses.
Save natural resources: Buying locally makes you an invaluable link in the process of saving resources such as fossil fuels and packaging materials. Also, we are right here in your community so the expense of transportation and delivery is kept to a minimum.
Supporting a way of life: The number of small farms in the United States has decreased dramatically in the last decade. Please help us preserve an honest and worthy means of making a living.
We believe that small, diverse, family-owned farms contribute to society’s overall health.
What happens if I forget to pick up my order?
If orders are not picked up by the end of the designated pickup time/end of market, our vendors will be donating your items to the St Francis House.
If you have placed an order and need to make other arrangements for pick up or delivery please email us no later the Friday at noon.
Can I get my order delivered?
YES! Starting April 25th, we will be launching our delivery pilot program. There will be a $10 charge per delivery for this service.
In order to choose delivery, there is a cart item you must add for the $10 charge. The delivery item will be featured at the top of the main page and can be added to your cart from there. Upon checkout, you will then have the option of delivery to your home being the location you select for “pickup.”
If you do not select the delivery fee, but choose delivery at checkout, we will add the $10 fee to your order before your payment is processed.
During market season, deliveries will start at 7 am and go until everything has been delivered. For this week, deliveries will be determined based on number of orders, but expect them to be started earlier than 10 am which has been our standard off season pickup time.
We recommend a container/basket be placed on your front porch/lawn to accept the delivery. If you live in an apartment building, please provide us with a commons area we can drop your order off at. Our drivers will arrive at your location, place the items in the container, ring the doorbell/knock and leave to help promote social distancing. We recommend you be home to accept the delivery (remember, you may have ordered perishable items!).
